LOOK FOR BEACON IN THE JOURNAL OF REMEDIATION
Beacon Environmental recently published an article in the Journal of Remediation (John Wiley & Sons Inc.). The paper, which discusses the performance of several passive diffusion devices for time integrated sampling of indoor air, appeared in the Fall 2009 issue and is entitled:
Evaluation of the Performance of Multiple Passive Diffusion Devices for Indoor Air Sampling of VOCs
BEACON IS A CONTRIBUTING AUTHOR TO NEW PUBLICATION ON FIELD SAMPLING METHODS
Mark Byrnes, author of Field Sampling Methods for Remedial Investigations (Second Edition), requested BEACON contribute to the revised edition of this popular book, which provides guidance on how to develop cost-effective and defensible environmental sampling programs to support site characterization. BEACON wrote the section on advanced passive soil gas sample collection and analysis procedures for the identification of VOCs and SVOCs in the subsurface.

BEACON PERFORMS PASSIVE SOIL GAS SURVEYS ON MULTIPLE SITES IN THE MIDDLE EAST
BeSure Passive Soil Gas Kits™ have been employed at multiple sites in the Middle East to characterize sites for releases of petroleum contamination and to delineate the extent of the contamination. BEACON continues to provide BeSure Kits™ to our clients around the world to destinations such as Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia, where in all those areas regulatory acceptance of our methods is becoming commonplace. BeSure Kits™ contain adsorbents that trap trace levels of compounds so the Kits easily make it through customs without incident, unlike shipping soil or groundwater samples internationally. Also, the holding time for our adsorbent samplers is at least four weeks, which ensures holding times will not be exceeded when collecting samples over an extended time and returning them all in one shipment.
BEACON SELECTED TO CHARACTERIZE URBAN
RENEWAL AREA IN NEW YORK CITY
Beacon Environmental has been awarded a contract to characterize a multi-acre area within New York City as part of an Urban Renewal Area program. Beacon Environmental was selected after performing a side-by-side demonstration of capabilities with another passive soil gas vendor. Data from both companies were reviewed by the contractor, NYC Department of Health, and the U.S. EPA prior to the selection of Beacon Environmental. The selection of our technology further validates the value of the BeSure Passive Soil Gas method over other soil gas technologies being offered in the market.
